Beyond is sitting on a 750 pound ships anchor in Sea Cows Bay before she will be hauled out for work.

Beyond, Departure 35, steel sloop

This yacht is a Departure 35', built in Bellingham WA, and fitted in Tarpon Springs FL by the original owner.

She has been sitting in North Sound, Virgin Gorda, in the BVI for several years which in the tropics can be quite damaging.

The first most important jobs will be to treat her for rust in the interior and get a good barrier coat on her. The running rigging will be entirely replaced and the topsides repainted.

She will be a fine yacht with a few months of good work put in to her.

It is now the intention of this blog to record any new findings for working on a private boat in the BVI, methods of dealing with rust, or useful measures to make a job easier.

Safe Down Island Passage

The delivery/charter went well only be perserverance and commitment to keeping the schedule. After Monserrat came Guadeloupe, Les Isles Des Saintes, Dominica, martinique, St Lucia and finally St Vincent. Not to be recommended as a charter!

This broker rather rudely mis-sold the couple who paid for a "half price charter" on this trip being a pleasant island hop, three to four hours of sailing a day, with plenty time to tour each island. What they didn't research is that they were to expect a good eight to ten hour bash to windward in open sea, having to leave at day break in order to get in to clear customs and immigration if they wanted to see aything ashore. Ah well, they tour was interesting!

Patrick returned to the BVI on the Saturday morning of the 11th, seriously good timing!

Patrick is now in Montserrat, weathering out some weather before heading on to Guadeloupe.

Pat South Squeak West

Patrick is off with two guests as effectively "delivery crew" although they have no experience. Tonight to St Barth's, tomorrow to st Kitts and Nevis.

Sailing to St Maarten

Patrick has a gig sailing down island with a couple on a Lagoon 50. So we'll be taking it together overnight to St Maarten Tuesday, check in Wednesday morning. Then he'll carry on with them to St Barth's, St Kitt's, Guadeloup, Dominica, St Lucia, St Vincent. While Squeak will seek out the famed Indian curry house.

Beach Birthday with toys

Happy Birthday Emma. The first chance we've had to get together on the beach, here in Brewer's. So we got all the toys out: wake boarding, inflatable platform, skim board, boogy boards, coolers. This was followed by a very pleasant late lunch at the house.
